Delvaux is happy to accompany the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium in unveiling a rare treasure: three monumental panels from The Americans, the mural created by Saul Steinberg for the American Pavilion at the 1958 Brussels World Expo. Restored thanks to the patronage of Delvaux, these works are presented in Brussels for the first time since their original creation, in a dedicated exhibition running from May 21 to October 19, 2025.
This dialogue between Delvaux and Steinberg finds its origin in a shared moment: the 1958 World Expo. That year, Steinberg created The Americans, while Delvaux introduced le Brillant – its now-emblematic handbag, partially inspired by the radical design of the Philips Pavilion by Le Corbusier.
In March 2025, Delvaux had the honor of reintroducing Saul Steinberg’s masterworks—exceptionally loaned by the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium. These three murals became a central element of La Maison’s one-week installation-performance during Paris Fashion Week, Place Vendôme.
As part of this ongoing conversation between Delvaux and Steinberg, La Maison has also created a silk scarf, inspired by one of the artist’s original drawings. Echoing his iconic 1947 Harper’s Bazaar cover—where the Place Vendôme column rose as a beacon of fashion’s modern spirit—this exclusive piece connects past and present, Brussels and Paris.
